A little about us
In 2012, due to the reorganisation of the Youth Service, Somerset County Council could no longer provide the resources required to continue with operating Youth Clubs in the North Sedgemoor Area. The young people, a number of parents and the existing leaders met together to decide the future of the clubs at Cheddar, Lympsham and Axbridge. At this meeting it was agreed to set up a new organisation to deliver an Open Access Youth Club in the area. The take up of youth provision was low in the Lympsham area and the Cheddar Club was amalgamated with Axbridge youth club under the new leadership and continued to run out of the old Axbridge railway station. In 2013 it was decided to relocate back to Cheddar, which was more central for the young people attending the club, and it returned to the Methodist Church Hall in Cheddar. The remaining club ran from there until October 2019, providing a regular weekly programme, when due to lack of funding and support it closed it's doors,
The Club was funded through grant applications, donations and weekly subscriptions which enabled it to provide two qualified youth workers whilst still keeping costs to young people at an affordable level.
